Dancecyprus and Rosamunde Trio

Dancecyprus presented a programme of classical and contemporary dance, choreographed by Artistic Director Carolina Constantinou:

For this production Dancecyprus had the honour of collaborating with three international soloists who formed the Rosamunde Trio, Martino Tirimo (piano), Ben Sayevich (violin) and Daniel Veis (cello).

Dancers: Carolina Constantinou, Marina Kyriakidou, Arianna Markoulides, Natalie Peslika, and Nataly Savvidou from Cyprus and Julien Ficely (France), Jean Claude Nelson (Germany) and Ivica Bago (Croatia). Christina Perentou (Dc Junior Co).

‘Dance for a better life’
In collaboration with the European Commission Representation in Cyprus and the Press and Information Office, in the framework of ‘2010 European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion’

Dancecyprus presented a programme chosen by Artistic Director Carolina Constantinou, with a variety of classical and contemporary repertoire with dancers from ballet companies such as Staatballett Berlin, Victor Ullate Ballet (Spain), Centre Choreographique National de Nantes (CCNN – France). Amongst them Cypriot professional dancers who excelled abroad, Natalia Krekou (Ballett St Pölten Austria and Moscow City Ballet), Dafni Mouyiassi (Formerly Bejart Ballet Lausanne), Anastasia Paschali (Formerly Royal Danish Ballet), Loizos Constantinou (Formerly Athens National Opera). (Paschali and Constantinou did not perform due to injury)
This year Dancecyprus had the honour of welcoming Andrei Batalov, First soloist of the Mariinsky Ballet (Kirov). Other dancers included: Gianluca Battaglia (Soloist at Victor Ullate Ballet – Spain), Vincent Blanc and Benjamin Lamarche (Soloists from Centre Choreographique National de Nantes (CCNN – France), Rainer Krenstetter (Soloist at Staatsballett Berlin), Francois Mauduit (Compagnie Choregraphique Francois Mauduit).
The repertoire consisted of choreographies from Petipa’s ”Le Corsaire” and ”Don Quixote” as well as neoclassical and contemporary pieces by Bejart, Brumachon, Dimitriadou Lindahl, Lao, Pandis, Tichy, Mauduit and Ullate. Carolina Constantinou has choreographed ”Echos” for Dancecyprus Junior Co with Evelthon Michaelides on drums.

November / December 2010 – Dc Photographic Exhibition

In collaboration with the Electricity Authority of Cyprus, Dancecyprus presented the Dancecyprus Photographic Exhibition at the EAC Head Office in Nicosia which was inaugurated by the First Lady, Mrs Elsi Christofia.

September 2009 – Dancecyprus Gala

Principals and soloists from the Royal Ballet, Staatsoper Berlin, Compania Nacional de Danza(Spain), Staatsoper München, Aterballetto (Italy) and Staatsoper Stuttgart. Choreographers: Barra, Bigonzetti, Constantinou, Duato, Fonseca, Galili, Lorenzo, Petipa, Scarlett and Schläpfer.

The performance was under the auspices of First Lady, Mrs Elsie Christofias.

September 2008 – Rhapsody

In collaboration with the Pafos ’Open Windows’ Festival Cyprus.

Dancers were:  Carolina Constantinou, Justin Cumine, Sergio Giacomelli, Sebastien Mari, Amy Lazarou, Galatia Savva and Elsa Sabbatini.

June 2007 – “WHITE MAGIC”

“White Magic” was a joint performance of a new work by choreographer Antonio Colandrea and the renowned concert pianist Martino Tirimo. Music by F.Chopin and W.A.Mozart. The dancers were: Demetra Demetriou, Mads Eriksen, Tiljaus Lukaj, Anastasia Paschali, Galatia Savva, Elsa Sabbatini and Alexander Staeger. Performances took place at Larnaka Municipal Theatre, Nicosia Municipal Theatre and Rialto Theatre in Limassol.

Hellenic Centre at the West End.  Piano interludes by Martino Tirimo, and Henry Roche from the Royal Ballet.

May / June 2006 – AUDITIONS

Florence, London and Nicosia. The juries were headed by Elisabetta Terabust (former Principal Dancer and Director of Rome Opera Ballet, La Scala Ballet and the Ballet of Teatro San Carlo, Naples) and Alessandra Celentano (Ballet Mistress at MaggioDanza).  Audition classes were taught by Bryony Brind, Antonio Colandrea, Lucia Geppi and Umberto de Luca.

24 September 2005- Nicosia Launch

Melina Mercouri Hall, Nicosia, with guest dancers from The Royal Ballet.

The Royal Ballet dancers appeared by kind permission of Monica Mason, Artistic Director of The Royal Ballet, U.K. Christina Arestis, Soloist, and Gary Avis, Character Principal, danced the Tango from “Facade”. Edward Watson, Principal, danced a commissioned solo choreographed by David Fielding to music by Handel. This was a world premiere.
